These restaurants have the most antibiotics in their meat – avoid them!

Antibiotics are being used in farming and food all across America

What’s scary about this fact is that most people don’t even realize that a lot of their favorite foods are packed full with antibiotics. Furthermore, the amount of research into these antibiotics and their effect on human health is scarce.

Nearly 100% of dairy cows are given antibiotics to prevent disease, and 88% of pigs are given similar treatment for the same reasons. However, recent research shows us that close to 25 millions pounds of antibiotics are used on chickens, pigs, and cows per year that have no therapeutic purposes.

Animals are being pumped with antibiotics can cause humans health problems

The overuse of antibiotics in meat leads to the production of superbugs which are resistant to drugs. This can make various types of medication for illnesses ineffective in humans. The biggest food restaurants in the country can either be the biggest problem, or they could be the fix. Any food places that claim to be a healthier option need to go the full stretch and ensure that their meat significantly reduces its antibiotic content.  

There is now more awareness of antibiotics in meat and it has forced many food chains to change their approach to meat. Any that don’t simply won’t be able to keep up with the competition.

Another major health concern surrounding the drug resistant-superbugs is the fact that two million antibiotic-resistant infections annually. 23,000 of which die. However, now that consumers are becoming more aware of antibiotics in their meat and how it can affect their health, the power is in their hands.

Research reveals the ranking of your favorite food restaurants in terms of the antibiotics contained in their meats

There is now a second rating which reveals twice as many restaurants made significant improvements and were considered passable. This is a great step forward in the meat industry and it looks like the wishes of consumers is being met.

However, as you can see by the ranking list, only two restaurants (Panera Bread and Chipotle) have an A grade. The A grade signifies that the use of antibiotics is limited during the production of their meat. The rest fall under B or C grades which means there are mixed results.

For example, McDonalds sourced ALL of their chicken from farms that didn’t use any antibiotics whatsoever. But they didn’t make the same effort for their beef and pork products.

The companies with D grades made small but relatively insignificant changes.

Some of the food chains that didn’t take any steps to reduce antibiotics in their meat include:

  • Dunkin Donuts
  • KFC
  • Olive Garden
  • Denny’s
  • Burger King
  • Dominos
  • Arby’s
  • IHOPS

The ranking systems above can help you navigate your way around the food chains graded with an F. Their meats still contain high quantities of antibiotics, so do your best to avoid them as often as possible. We advise sticking to ones that are graded A, however, since there seems to be so few, it can be tricky.

Go for organic meats as often as you can. They don’t contain any antibiotics or growth hormones and the more you can add those meats to your meals, the healthier you’ll be.

  • Single Knee Hugging

Lay on your back and hold onto your right knee. Pull it towards your chest gently until you notice a stretch. Maintain this position for 20 seconds and repeat on your left leg.

  • Internal Hip Rotation

Keep your knees bent at 90 degrees while laying face-down. Let your feet outwards and hold for 30 seconds.

  • Hip Flexion

Pull one knee up towards your chest while laying on your back. Make sure to hold the knee using both hands and move it from side to side for 20 seconds before repeating on the other leg.

Exercises to strengthen the hips include:

  • Bridging

Lay on your back and lift your hips up towards the ceiling while keeping the soles of your feet against the floor. Hold for a slight pause at the top before slowly lowering your hips back down and repeating.

  • Knee Pivots

Keep your feet together and lay on your side. Have a slight bend in the knees and lift the leg that’s on top. Maintain the position of your knee and gradually use your ankles to move your feet up and down. Do this 15 times per leg.

  • The Clam

Get in the exact same position as the knee pivots above. Lift the knee on top, while maintaining a slight bend, as far as you can before lowering it back. Complete 15 reps like this for each leg.

There is a clear link between biochemistry and the criminal’s brain that can affects behaviour

William Walsh became interested in why we still didn’t know why criminals have bad behaviour, in particular, he wanted to find out what made a person violent. When he realized that sometimes a person’s environment can alter their behaviour (i.e. having a poor upbringing) he also found there were many violent criminals who came from good families.

This lead to Walsh coming up with the theory that it has something to do with brain chemistry.

Walsh’s lab studies revealed that he was right about the brain chemistry in criminals being different to other people’s

One of his findings shows that the amount of metals in a criminal (such as zinc, manganese, and copper) were aberrant compared to law-abiding citizens. Walsh developed different kinds of violent people from his studies.

Sociopaths who were extremely deficient in zinc and were suffering from low blood spermine, pyrrole disorder, and undermethylation. All of which caused a bad brain chemistry. Those with pyrrole  disorder were also dangerously low in B6 which produces adverse reactions on how the brain functions, including the ability to read and memory loss.

Children show the best signs of treatment for brain chemistry problems and behaviour problems

Walsh’s research expanded to evaluation 500 violent adults and children. They discovered that adults were much harder to treat as they would improve their behaviour for 6-8 months at the most before they landed back in prison. This was due to illegal drugs and alcohol abuse problems which, of course, had negative effects.

That’s when Walsh decided to delve into treating children. He wanted to try and help them get treatment as early as possible to ensure they didn’t negatively impact the rest of their lives. Violent children who can be treated for brain chemistry issues before they hit puberty were found to have the highest rates of success. The kids in this treatment are on a variety of drugs to help stabilize their brain chemistry, but after they’re done, they slowly come off them and don’t depend on drugs after to keep things in control.

There are approximately six nutrients that are exclusively responsible for brain function

The research that Walsh and his team had been doing revealed that nutrients in the brain were the key in creating neurotransmitters and helping them work effectively. One of the main nutrients was methylation and 70% of those with mental disorders either suffer from undermethylation or overmethylation. They also discovered that many people with mental disorders are deficient in zinc. This is something that pretty much every single person with a mental disorder lacks.

Furthermore, copper was found to be depleted among sociopaths. However, there is hope for people with these disorders.

Dr. Walsh’s research hasn’t just had positive effects on criminals with brain chemistry problems, it has also helped children with autism and ADHD symptoms as well as people with depression.

He believes that using drugs to treat these conditions can produce good results, however, they bring about a whole other list of problems that then need more drugs to fix – and it becomes a vicious cycle.

People are beginning to listen to what Walsh has to say as he has the data to back it all up. Nutrient therapy could be overtaking psychiatric methods and drugs in the near future.

Bottom line: Women need to be aware that toxin exposure from unexpected sources can still have a significant impact on their health, and feminine products are no exception.

6 Hormone Disruptors and Chemicals Found in Feminine Products

Phthalates

A plastic-like chemical found in many products that are scented, phthalates, found in fragranced pads or tampons used to mask vaginal odors, are hormone disrupting. (4)

Dioxins

A synthetic ingredient made from sawdust, rayon is most closely associated with TSS, or toxic shock syndrome. Tampons all get a warning label that they shouldn’t be left in for more than eight hours because of TSS, which can cause symptoms like fever, rash, low blood pressure, vomiting, diarrhea, and even seizures. (8) TSS is life-threatening, so most women are educated about this risk. However, women aren’t informed that the very same tampon that could cause TSS is also exposing them to dioxins, which are byproducts of rayon, and which are not safe at any exposure level. (9)

Synthetic Fragrances

A fancy way of saying “a chemical cocktail to produce a synthetic scent,” fragrances are used in thousands of products to produce a specific smell. They’re also used to mask odors, such as in feminine products. The problem with this is that just because something smells clean and fresh doesn’t mean that it is. Chemicals used in fragrances are often proprietary and are not required to be disclosed, meaning you have no idea what you’re inhaling, ingesting, or inserting. Some fragrances even contain known carcinogens. (10)

OK – today’s topic is PMS – not exactly a topic that people discuss often.  Yet 75% of women are affected by it!

Certainly PMS can be the cause of loads of fights, arguments, unhappiness, and short fuses in a marriage/relationship.  In severe cases, PMS symptoms can last for 2 wks of the month and then the remaining 2 weeks of the month could be spent trying to repair the relationship damage.  Yikes.  Let’s talk.  This is serious business.

Like many, I grew up thinking that it was just normal for women to get signs of PMS once a month.

I guess I got that message from – well – everywhere.  And sure enough, for most of my adult life, I did experience PMS – including moodiness, cramping and headaches (I would often go to sleep with a headache, wake up the next day with headache, and have it last well into the next day or longer.) Heaven forbid there were any underlying emotions that were still lingering from during the month (i.e. hurt and sadness in my marriage; insecurity about the state of my marriage; anxiety over infertility; etc.) At that time in my life, I didn’t know how to handle these trials or how to heal or do all the things I talk about now on the blog. So there were emotions lingering…and you can bet they came to the surface and were magnified during PMS.  Does that happen to any of you or your partners?

(I still do all these. I marked in RED the things that were absolute game changers that I could notice even within days/weeks):

1. I stopped eating gluten, refined sugar, and dairy (THESE WERE KEY!!!)

2. I ate mostly whole foods instead of processed/packaged foods.

3. I ate more evenly throughout the day.

4. I started taking multi-vitamins and 1,000 mg of EPA/DHA Omega 3 Fish Oils (it’s important to get a high quality fish oil )

5. I already did not drink caffeine or alcohol.

(These are major causes of PMS as they screw up your hormones.  Please don’t fool yourself into thinking you should drink caffeine to soothe your PMS headache! See this article here.)

6. I drank lots of water.

7. I exercised more.

Mostly walking and some running (The key: working up a sweat to get my blood moving.) 

8. I did the work to manage my energy

Doing this prevented any hurt feelings or emotions from “lingering” around and coming to the surface later.

9. I took more time for myself, worked fewer hours.

You can always do something about your PMS.

Certainly your list might look a little different.  But if you have PMS, please, please know that there are SO many things you can do to improve the situation.  **Look at this amazing article by Dr. Mark Hyman…he outlines the steps to eliminate PMS without drugs.** (He talks about everything above and so much more).  I also love the info. in the book called “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom” by Christiane Northrup, M.D.  Every woman should own this book!

OK – today’s topic is PMS – not exactly a topic that people discuss often.  Yet 75% of women are affected by it!

Certainly PMS can be the cause of loads of fights, arguments, unhappiness, and short fuses in a marriage/relationship.  In severe cases, PMS symptoms can last for 2 wks of the month and then the remaining 2 weeks of the month could be spent trying to repair the relationship damage.  Yikes.  Let’s talk.  This is serious business.

Like many, I grew up thinking that it was just normal for women to get signs of PMS once a month.

I guess I got that message from – well – everywhere.  And sure enough, for most of my adult life, I did experience PMS – including moodiness, cramping and headaches (I would often go to sleep with a headache, wake up the next day with headache, and have it last well into the next day or longer.) Heaven forbid there were any underlying emotions that were still lingering from during the month (i.e. hurt and sadness in my marriage; insecurity about the state of my marriage; anxiety over infertility; etc.) At that time in my life, I didn’t know how to handle these trials or how to heal or do all the things I talk about now on the blog. So there were emotions lingering…and you can bet they came to the surface and were magnified during PMS.  Does that happen to any of you or your partners?

BUT – – – I have to let you in on something that happened to me which has been quite a miracle…

As I started taking better care of myself physically, my hormones balanced and I had the energy/clarity/ability to become healthier emotionally.  The combination of the two forces led to such thorough healing that since then, I have had nearly ZERO PMS!!  We’re talking hardly even a smidget of it for about 6 years!!!!  This began even when I was in my first marriage. The Reason Height Difference Can Mean Happiness in Your Relationship

Sciences proves that height plays a big role in how happy you are in a relationship

While women often want to be with someone who’s taller than them, there has actually been a recent study which shows a taller man could lead to a more joyous relationship. The study looked at 7850 Indonesian people who agreed that the bigger the height difference between a husband and wife, the happier the wife was.

The same bit of research also noted that couples who had been together for 18 years or over no longer looked at height as being a big factor in their happiness. One of the hypothesized conclusions of this study was that maybe it had something to do with the men’s self-confidence.

Taller men are usually seen as being more attractive and they seem to be more content with life in comparison to shorter men. Another possible conclusion was that women prefer taller men due to their genetics. The bigger the man, the more likely he was to survive and provide for you in ancient times.

This study doesn’t mean finding a taller guy will necessarily make you happy

Each person is unique, and it’s difficult to say that a taller man will make you happier than a shorter man. It really has nothing to do with their personality (unless their self-esteem is affected due to being short). Another study revealed that women didn’t actually feel anymore loved or appreciated when a tall guy shows an interest in them, compared to when a shorter man does.

A shorter man can still make you happy – so guys, there’s nothing to sweat about!

While a taller man has the possibility to make you happier, it doesn’t mean a shorter person cannot do the exact same, if not considerably more. Check out some of these celebs where the guy is shorter than their partner. They look pretty happy to us!

4 Ways to Let Go of Anger and Take Control in Difficult Situations

Emotions are very powerful, but anger is more powerful and can control you if you let it

When it comes to the most destructive emotion, anger is at the top of the list. It can make us say things we will regret, cause separation and even make us violent.

But as with every other emotion, anger has a root cause. If we can recognize its root cause, we can better control it and let it go when we come across such troublesome scenarios.

1. Let go of the expectations you have in life, they lead to anger

We expect to party every Friday evening, to still be employed the next day we go to work and we expect to get our package delivered on time. We become angry and frustrated when those expectations don’t go quite as planned.

The first thing you must do is learn to recognize the expectation. Since you are the one who made up this expectation mentally, you are only angry because you disappointed yourself. When you notice this one thing, your perspective will change for the better.

2. Create a new dialog for your expectations to consciously let go of them and let the universe do its thing

When you run into traffic when coming back from work, tell yourself that “I will be home late” instead of your old expectation that usually ends up making you mad. You will see your scenario change in a dynamic way when you just go with the flow rather than resist it.

3. Noticing the effect anger has on your body can allow you to calm it and take control of it

We exhibit physical signs when we get angry often. We can become restless, our head can hurt or our heart rate can increase. You should do the opposite after noticing these signs that you are getting angry. That way, the anger can be calmed and then controlled.

4. When arguing with someone, take a break to avoid feeling that uncontrollable anger

Take a minute and recognize the effect the anger is holding or held over you the next time you are quarreling with someone, whether you notice it at the moment or before the argument. Recognize how your behavior has been altered and the feelings that are going through your body.

That way, when you recognize the anger in future, you will act more consciously and make better decisions when you do get angry. You can break that pattern of anger, for example, by throwing your hands up and singing the Star Spangled Banner.
